What is the point of doing this. Instead of going the way you are supposed 
to, you want to make the browser guess what kind of URL it is?
Is it http, ftp, https, irc, whateveryouwant?

Nobody uses relative URLs any more, because they can make you a lot of 
trouble. Just use the way everyone goes or tell a very good reason to find 
your own way.
Anyway, I think this is just not possible.
Apart from that, that is not a good idea SEO wise.

OT: Please use a newsreader (e.g. Thunderbird) to communicate with this 
list. You are currently opening a new thread for each reply and thus 
spamming the list.
