[TYPO3-ect] tx_party - Extension

Hi List,

I'm glad to see that there is still interest on the partner / party /
tx_party / wec_people extension.

The extension name went through many changes, and it still still
confuses me. If I look at: http://typo3xdev.sourceforge.net/
- there are still "nightly snapshots" of the "partner" and "party"
extension. What about them? Are they still developed?

I know that the Web Empowered Church does a lot for the community and
their extensions are excellent! I'm very happy and grateful that WEC
does this important work. But the prefix "wec_" does stop me in getting
involved for several reasons:
1) I feel the prefix "wec_" does not state clearly that it could be a
team project where people outside of "WEC" contribute.
2) If the extension is named "tx_xyz" it is a neutral name. The manual
can state who is involved in the developing process.
3) I think it is not fair to the effort of David Bruehlmeier. When he
started it was no "WEC" project, but a general project.
4) I do honor the effort of "WEC" and I do respect the religious
background. But the religious background is not mine. So I do not want
to develop in a "WEC" project.
5) The prefix "wec_" for me sounds like the extension is specially
tailored for "WEC" needs. What we need is a general extension, that can
be used for many needs.

So here is my suggestion for a road map to get the extension back to
main community and then get an initial release in the TER:
1) If Christoph Koehler is happy with it, we could discuss about a new
extension key that does not start with "wec_" or any other company /
project / sponsor. - If the new name is settled I could take care for
the necessary changes in the code.
2) There needs to be a project page, where the project is clearly
defined and the milestones are figured out. This is a task Christoph
Koehler has to do. He continued with the development so the information
found here cant be up to date:
http://www.bruehlmeier.com/tx_party/uml/index.htm?goto=3:13
http://wiki.typo3.org/index.php/Party_Information_Framework
- When there are new milestones that are clearly defined I will take
care for the solution of one after the other.
3) We need to gather together a coordination team. A team that knows the
road map and the concepts. People like Christoph Koehler and David
Bruehlmeier. Who wants to join in? Who wants to participate in the project?

My background:
I myself could probably not do much of the coding on the project. But I
work together with some full time programmers. I employ / pay them for
coding on the project.

greetings

Ron
