Hi Tony,

I do not see any reason why you would need to nest domains.

If I understand you correctly you have multiple domains which have similar, but not exact styling.

One way is to duplicate skins and assign each to a different domain. However, I doubt that is what you want to do as you probably want to use common code across the sites so you can make a changes to common items and affect all sites.

Therefore, I think what you ought to consider doing is create one skin. You design it for the first site and assign it to ALL the sites. You then use TypoScript in a base TS template on the other sites to override what you need to override in the skin. Things like CSS files and some rendering. You would still be able to make changes in the skin when you wanted those changes to cut across all sites.
