they can. Even if you don't use them but install one of the WEC skin 
extensions you will see them, as they are added by extension.

reason for the limitation is obvios. A DS record has more "fields", so 
you can operate on record base. Therefore you have also the parent record.
The static DS has only "one" field from old record, the DS. So there are 
missing informations.

I thought about using a mixture, means using ds records but having the 
xml in a static file. That would allow
* any naming of the staticDS file
* having the scope in the record, no its part of the filename (suboptimal)

The reason using pure static files was that it exists in code a very 
long time but never was finished, so i did this part.
