I suggest using min-width: 800px and max-width: 1024px styles. There is 
even a nice way to support this in IE via expressions in CSS. see [1] on 
this topic.

This is how I most like three-column fluid layout right now. ;)
current example(still without IE-expression fix) for three column-fluid 
with min-width and max-width is on [2]
