Like Peter said, I'd also not go for 2 different templates. I think it's 
best to go for this range-design. We used it on our old website as well, and 
it worked very well for most people. It's especialy important in terms of 
proxy / caching, as it MIGHT produce a problem having 2 different templates. 
It actualy did turn out to be a small problem when we set up our test 
regarding html-publishing. The browser / publishing would choose the 
template of the first "browser" and send that to all following browsers 
which might use a different screensize.
It can be taken care of of course, to name those files differently or 
something the like, but that's always connected to more work. If possible, 
keep one template, to be flexible in the future.
