[Typo3-dev] Extension/plugin development HOWTO?

I spend loads of time googling and browsing for info on using the framework in Typo3.
Usage of cObj->currentPageUrl and cObj->IMAGE (esp. the masks) were only found by me in the core-source.
My fear is that discussing about a simple extention howto will endup in a flame on what programming techniques are right.
Maybe a document with simple tasks is a good idea.
