Heyla,

An anti-harassment policy itself was strange to me at first as well. It seems to
be a very US thing currently, but reading the pages Tolleiv provides makes me
aware again that we inherit all that stuff at a given point anyway on the
European continent. I think the anti-harassment policy can also strengthen
gender equality in our poject. Not mentioning it is like not going to the doctor
when you feel something is wrong with you so you do not hear the bad news. We
are a very white male dominated community and it would be great if we can change
something there. The world does not exist of white males only so there is a nice
task. I have been promoting having more girl power [1] in our project, but there
is resistance here and there. I general the fact that we have such a polarised
community is indicative for how difficult it is for us to change something or to
be open to change. I am not sure how to view the recent unrest in the community,
which is going on for a long time already, but it has something to do with it I
believe. It shows a lot of intolerance.

For me an anti-harassment policy could also actively promote a safe environment
for women based on equality.

Looking at how much attention there is for this in other projects for gender
equality we should not brush it of as BS. One of the things that is important
for me as community manager is to get more people into the project or as I would
rather put it to activate people in the community and I will definitely be
looking at opportunitiues how we can achiver that.
