I think we are overcomplicating the issue, and focusing too much on
advertising funds. If we just put our efforts together and donate our
time and skills we could create a much bigger impact than several
thousands spent on advertising.

Logically, I am more than willing to donate several hours a week on
something I myself would benefit from in a very short term, versus
$5000 that a) I have to wire to Switzerland; b) will (maybe) come back
some day to US and be spent on advertising.

The benefits of being listed on some site as a consultancy or "being a
member" have absolutely NO value to me. My prospective clients would
never go to typo3.org or typo3.us and they couldn't care less if I am
a member of some European-based Open Source Association (them
you-re-peeing open source commies;). This model may work well for
freelancers and one-man shops looking for small projects, but not for
the business we are trying to be in.

In my opinion, Typo3 needs our English skills and a bit more
market-oriented vision that is so common for Americans more than our
money.
