I think a paid sponsorship would be a good approach. For instance. You could
break it down by companies and consultants. A possible structure could be as
follows.
Corporate Sponsors (Companies, hosting, agencies etc)
Platinum Partners: $5000 annual fee
Gold Partners: $2500 annual fee
Silver partners: $1500 annual fee
Bronze partner: $500 annual fee
Consultants: (freelancers, designers, developers and moonlighters)
Minimum of xx amount of TYPO3 sites completed for entry or some kind of
minimum requirement.
Platinum Partners: $500 annual fee
Gold Partners: $250 annual fee
Silver partners: $150 annual fee
Bronze partner: $50 annual fee
By creating a fee structure, this would do a number of things.
1. Creates a budget for marketing and other assorted capital intensive
projects.
2. Separates the posers from the serious players.
3. Adds a level of professionalism to the association.
Each level could have additional perks, such as logos and mention in
advertising, PR, and other marketing materials. Higher level sponsors might
have a better listing in a potential job board. Think of conference
sponsorships where you have assorted sponsors with their given logo and
company profiles.
Lower level sponsors may be less prominently displayed and possibly an
additional fee for referrals and job postings. But there will still have the
opportunity to place there logo on marketing marketers, but for an
additional cost, be it a small cost.
Ultimately this website should be a place where potential TYPO3 customers
should be able to make a fully informed decision on which company best suits
there needs. Obviously a platinum sponsor, for instance Enomaly, would be
probably not able to take a project for less then $10- $15k, where a bronze
level company would be more then happy with a $2500 project.
Does this make sense?
