Ohhh. That markup makes me queasy--I _have_ the book but I didn't
realize they were still doing things that way in it. _Not_ a good way
to promote the system I'd think.

Anyway, please post the stuff where your subparts are defined. Also,
you might just try doing this:

subparts.SUBNAVIGATION = TEXT
subparts.SUBNAVIGATION {
  value = Hello World
}

...and see if that works.
