next year easter?
I think at that time older versions than 7 will have not more market share
than Netscape 4.

you decide wether you want to have a secure system or not.
every security update is connected with a new IE.

maybe you can escape the new IE, but probably only on win-versions, which
are no longer supported at all.
On Win-NT or W2K. win9x? (95,98,ME)
But I don't think you can escape IE7 on Win-XP and you won't escape it or
later Versions with Vista.

For some time now it is usual that the latest service-packs provides you
with the latest IE. Maybe, because the browser is one of the greatest
security holes? ;-)
XP (and Vista) will stop working if you don't get security-updates.
If not today then a few monthes later.

As a professional you won't be able to risk the vulnerability of an
unprotected windows. maybe you can stop microsoft-updates, but are you sure
you can stop hackers too?

Hiding the old browser from internet:
Do you really need a car if you keep it in your garage to avoid possible
accidents?

I thought it the other way:
as the IE7 will spread you also don't need to take care on
alpha-transparency and special filters because it is handled correctly.
