In general I would prefer to get new FE technologies as soon as possible. 
New technologies always include a chance to get things easier (especially for developers).
But: as much as I hate this fact (somehow), a lot of people are using the old tech. This is, because they know it and because of some other reasons I think you all know very well. :-)
I would very much appreciate to see my favorite open source project to use modern technologies, because I personally like to be up to date and use advantages of new stuff.

Just some thoughts from me.
