[TYPO3-dam] external files in DAM

hi..

if one has the media archive on a different server...
does anybody know if it is possibile to have external files in the DAM list?

(i would put all indexing data by hand, since indexing maybe not work well with external files...)

i see that creing news DAM records in the Media folder doesn't allow the basic file location to be set.

should i go with fake "preview" on the local server and use the "original source" as real file path?
