It can work, but if you start including you're dropDowns here, you will 
run in a lot off additional work, since you need the information in all
3 plugins, not only the checkout.

As written before, commerce is build to work with real articles
instead of the normal variant system, since this logical the right way.

(you don't have 20 Levis 501 in the stock, but 5 L501 blue 32/32, 4 L501 
blue 32/34 and so on, and each can have an own price).

I'm not sure, what you want do, but when the customer use the same
articleNo in his system, you can insert this number more than one time
behind different articles.

Maybe you can write more about the customers needs?

namespace is fine, but other detailnames ;-)

tx_commerce_pi['user_attributUid']  for example
