[TYPO3-install] cannot login to backend

Hi all,

here's my problem:
I have  successfullly completed the 3-step installation of typo3_src-4.0.1.zip and dummy-4.0.1.zip.
When I try to login to the BE I getthe message: "Your login attempt did not succeed. Make sure to spell your username and password correctly, including upper/lowercase characters."

I have checked: 
The admin user has been generated with the password 'password', the md5-Hash in the database field <password> is the same as I can generate in mysql (select md5('password') from be_users) or in a php-Testscript (echo (md5(password'));).

Since my webserver is behind a firewall and accessed by a proxy server, I have set [SYS][doNotCheckReferer] = 1

I also cannot log in when I browse the login page on the server using url : localhost/typo3/typo3. This should exclude any Problems concerning the firewall/proxy settings.

Here are my basic server configuration details:

OS: Windows2003
Webserver: Apache 2.0.43 with php 4.3.3 
MySql: 4.0.13

Can anybody give me some hint to solve the problem?
