Hi Urs

we are using the materials provided at webempoweredchurch.

They are in English but as they have for each task a video with no sound it
is very easy to speak and explain the parts in German. We use this in all
our trainings we do in German, English, Thai and French and it works just
fine.

We usually start with this here

<http://webempoweredchurch.org/support/how-to-build-your-website/>after this
we start doing the classes. Sometimes we are doing the class about what is a
content management system first and than start with the mentioned site.

after we worked though all classes we start developing an easy extension
based in extbase/fluid

Our multilingual international students range from 10 - 81+.

The good thing on the wec materials is that all materials are made to
support the WEC Starter Package. Students can download this package so they
can use it also at home on a local server - Mac and Windows Server
packages are available and you can start just after they downloaded and
unpacked it.

For schooling we prefer using a Multi domain WEC Starter Package. Every
Student has his own website with own sub domain in a Multi domain Website.
Everyone has access to an Example Page which is also Part of the Multi
domain Website. Here the students can look and compare how things are done.
The most difficult part for students we realized is actually not TYPO3 the
System but to create valuable content with their own words and ideas.
Usually 95% or more of websites which get started by students contain first
copied content from other websites. Its a good place to teach them also
about Copyright Infringements and more.

The fact that the WEC content is absolutely not a handicap. usually it even
works if you let the students translate the content using google translate
and they should correct the sentences - a good practice for 15 year olds
i.e. in cooperation with an English teacher even usable as combined teaching
lessons.

We use also some of the materials mentioned already by kay (handbuch for
school cms) The tutorial videos aren't really usable as they focus on
standard templating and many things really look very different in the WEC
Packages.

Enjoy teaching them about and with TYPO3

Andi
