I like the approach of the new extension manager. 
Once it is stable, it will be more ease to use than the old one.
It's the right approach to put the upload features into a separate tool.

However, I simply don't expect that a version 6.0 is working.
x.0 versions suffer from child deseases.  I personally suggest 
to wait for 6.2 LTS of TYPO3 to migrate from the 4.x branch.
