[TYPO3] post variables empty

Hi,

I'm getting very strange behavior in one of my installations.  POST variables are not getting through at all.  

This means that any pages using forms are not working properly.  I first noticed while working on an extension that uses a form.  (the extension works on other installations).  But on the problem installation, my plain contact forms (built in typo3 mailform content element) are not working either.  

If I post a form and then reload the resulting page I do not get a "resend POSTDATA" warning at all.  So the post data is just not getting through.

I've gone as far as taking the HTML code generated by typo3 and dropping it into a plain test.php file.  It works fine there. So it is not a general server or browser issue, but rather definitely something in typo3 that is interfering with the POST process.  But I can't think of anything that would have this kind of result.

Any suggestions on what to check on would be greatly appreciated...
