[Typo3] Text being replaced by link and mailto:??

Hi list

On one of my typo3 setups the text on my page is being replaced by the link. This is only happening when rendered on the frontend. Everything looks fine in the admin in the RTE view and Code view. This is happening with the external link and mailto: link.

Ex: 
<a href="http://www.url.com">Go Here</a> ---- is code in the admin
<a href="http://www.url.com">http://www.url.com</a> --- is being rendered when viewing the site.

Same with mailto: links
<a href="mailto:person at domain.com">Persons Name</a> ---- is code in the admin
<a href="mailto:person at domain.com">person at domain.com</a> --- is being rendered when viewing the site.

I have only noticed this happening in one of my setups. Any Idea what is causing this and how to fix it.
