[Typo3] extension: database connection field

have a look at TYPO3 Core API's $TCA array reference : 
['columns'][fieldname]['config'] / TYPE: "select" (http://tinyurl.com/53nzu)

Things like "itemsProcFunc" or "foreign_table_where" may help you.
