Hi,

As Ben wrote we are working hard on revamping the whole documentation. At the same time others are working on revamping typo3.org. All this takes a lot of effort and we are only a few... Do you feel like contributing to something?

My current experience would be sufficient to submit some bits to wiki, I guess.
But I'm interested in the concept of documentation - because I experienced how important it is.
Previous TYPO3 documentation(before wiki appeared) was made in static style - manuals, tutorials.
I guess it could profit from becoming more dynamic and open.

I noticed, that php.net(uses DocBook) and Drupal/documentation are very effective because of single documentation
format and free postings - users themselves fill documentation gaps and post snippets or questions. Everything is
searchable on one site. Programmers can find functions and their samples submited by users.
And this swarm of knowledge bits organizes itself around the core of API tutorials and manuals.

Wiki format is good for developing consensus documents in collaborative manner. But it lacks "outsiders'"
involment - those who can comment, submit their instant postings not belonging to the main document.

I think format -

typo3.newdoc = DOCUMENTATION
typo3.newdoc.content = 1. Description of functions 2. Comments, snippets by users
typo3.newdoc.wrap = <one doc site with search> | </one doc site with search>

could be useful for documentation site.

Regards,
Kast A.
