Possibly also al lot of work. Whatever is done it might envolve some work. I do not think that Kasper will *replace* a working IE rte with anything.

I don't like flash and I have browsers (Mozilla) that sometimes don't come with Flash pre-installed and I am just too lazy too install it. So you'll need a flash detection as well!

While I don't oppose a flash rte as such, if it comes an alternative.

I strongly favour the API/extension idea. Let the admin install whatever rte she likes and let the (BE) user have some prefernces. Typo3 will pick the rte based on this prefs and the browser capabilities.

Unfortunately I have litte time left this month. I'm willling to do a some testing, especially for a Midas-based solution (Mozilla).
