[Typo3-dev] New news extension?

Hi there,

if you were to remake the news extension now what would you change?

My suggestions:
1. disentangle LIST, SEARCH and SINGLE
make three separate functions with a genuine SINGLE option which either 
displays a GET-submitted uid or a uid defined in the backend by picking 
a newsitem via the element browser
2. use more pibase methods like language labelling
3. connect language selection to newsitems
4. integrate multiple categories as demonstrated by ingmar
5. maybe even integrate the type-distinction for different news-types 
eg news, articles ...
6. integrate RTE as demonstrated in News+

Generally, is it a stupid idea to make a clean start?
If not. Are there any other features desireable?
