Meaning if I log onto bugs.typo3.org, I will also be logged into
typo3.org? I usually never logon to "typo3.org", only to bugs.

Yes, I have sponsored my own bug report. Seems to work! :) Now I owe
myself 5 EUR!

How about adding a "filter" in the search to search for sponsored open
bug reports? Or is this possible already somewhere?
