I think you haven't got the hint that I was meaning than a "bigger 
field" is able to test it by just installing an extension, instead of 
patching the typo3_src or even worse getting some branch from 
subversion, which is something that little if not only us developers is 
willing to make. I was looking from the testers eye and not from the 
developers eye. Imagine the ease to just "switch" the new UI options on 
and off (install / deinstall the extension).

But I agree that the overhead of doing that from our development side is 
much bigger which is why I think it won't happen.
