Like I wrote: I tried it several months ago and after that i filed a bug report 
and after that I joined the team as pending member (he should get a mail)

I don't want to wait weeks, so fork is the simplest solution. People can't 
update and need to uninstall and install the second time (cc_awstats before), 
That is bad, but a not working ext with 4.6 and higher is the really bad, 
People try it will and get an error.
