[TYPO3-ect] Awstats and new TYPO3 versions

Hello,

I think ics_awstats is most used statistic extension in repository. But it 
uses some removed TYPO3 functions. I tried to send a email and join the 
development team, but nothing happened.
Should I fork and release it or what is best way?
