i second elmars decision and i am shure that many pople will do so.
maybe not many people say this because they see that elmar is already
taking care for there position.

as long as there is a supported typo3 branch wich is running with php4 (
4.0 and 4.1) base extensions like lib/div should suppourt that.

a real reason to drop php4 support would be if php4 does'nt get any
security patches any more. at this point all hosters would have to
switch and typo3 could follow aswell without side effects.
