What you want is to force people to use php5. That is not a good idea.
What about the zillions of installations of Typo3 3.8, 4.0, 4.1 around
the world in production usage? You want to force them all do switch to
php5 only because Typo3 4.2 drops support for php4?

I'm strictly against dropping support of php4 from lib/div and support
Elmar in this decision by all means!
