Hi Christian,

i tested it (not completely) but tried to build an extension for smarty 
(used 4.1B3 ).
Following things i saw:

Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in 
L:\x-htdocs\t3\exttester\typo3\mod\tools\em\class.em_index.php on line 4182 
(after writing results)

for template they are extended by .php - this is only for phpView, for 
smarty the extension should be .tpl, or if any given in textfield, none.

smarty-template is rendered as php-Template - it should be empty to design 
own and set markers (markers in smarty are like {$marker}

this are some small things i saw. I have to build up an example extension 
using smartyView to see this in action, i try to get this in the next days 
...
