According to my personal understanding of the MIT text we can't.
According to MIT's interpretation on that wiki we can. I guess that the
wiki is rather on the right side than me. :-)
Or have YOU written that wiki text before? ;-)
In the second case I am unsure if the GPL licence wouldn't require a
relicense of the prototype license to GPL. I am too lazy to read the
full GPL this evening.

I have never stated the contrary. I expect that peple can use the eiD
method with any ajax library. eiD is a kind of hook, libraries are
libraries.

I don't think that there are decisions to make.
To officially promote prototype in addition to xajax that would require
a decision.
To officially promote prototype we would need:
1.) clearing of the warning of Peter Klein that prototype
would manipulate the javascript core, so that it conflicts with
usual third party javascript
2.) an active maintainer of that extension (until it is part of the
core)
3.) a tutorial for the usage within TYPO3 if possible with eiD example
4.) clearness about the license questions
5.) if possible a comparism with alternatives
6.) a decision of the members of ECT to support it
I think all this is in a realistic range, because maintaining a
prototype extension is less work than maintaning xajax like Michael
rightly observed.
