It does.
Its a bit hidden, but it works very well.

Translate the DAM-Media-Sysfolder. (the usual way)
Open "Media->List->[Tab]List". There you have a select box
"Language" now. To translate an entry, click on edit.
On the right top you have a select box "Language" here, that
contains "Standard" and "otherlanguage [NEW]". Select the second
and you can translate the metadata.
