I evaluated the most common - and some of the new - extensions if they
could be suitable base for a further development. In my eyes there is
no adequate candidate insight. I can go in detail in a further posting
if you want...

That is one point worth discussing. In my last two projects my clients
didn't like DAM. It was to complex for their purposes. And - correct
me if I'm wrong here - DAM doesn't features multi-language meta-
information.

I'm quite familiar with l10n, but interested in gsi_slideshow :-)
