[TYPO3-ect] Extension Rating System and Reviews Status

Hi all,

the Extension Review and Ratings project never really started operating
on the whole, though there have been some really active parts:

1. Security reviews
The TYPO3 security team started the reviews with the rollout of the new
TER2 focusing on security issues within the extension code.

2. Rating System Implementation
Michael Scharkow implemented a rating feature in the TER2 frontend
plugin (ter_fe). The rollout of the implementation takes some time due
to technical issues.

On my way to design a kind of extension quality assessment process I
have developed some ideas about extending the ter_fe to include user
reviews and some sort of supported features list. I still have to write
them down. There have been some interesting approaches done by the
former Extrev Team which have never been applied as far as I know.

Additionally I am in contact with Wolfgang Schröder from TUG Hamburg,
who is pushing things on the matter of writing extension reviews and
comparisons to get them published in T3N magazine.

I still have some problems about coordinating this project, because my
vision of a quality assessment process touches some core groups and
developers and I don't know if I have the proper knowledge about what's
going on behind the scenes ;-) and I don't want to step on somebody's
feet. To give it a try, I have posted a rough draft concept on the wiki
[1] and need some feedback to keep up the work and pushing things a
little bit further.

I am still convinced that there is the need of more transparency about
the extensions and their features mainly for administrators and advanced
users, so I will keep up the work if there is nobody else who feels
motivated to coordinate these issues. What I definitely need is some
feedback and contribution from you guys who are involved in the
different parts. Maybe I am on a totally wrong track, so please let me
know what you think ;-)
