What I like about the possibilities of TYPO3 on Symfony is the
declarative language, YAML[1]. It has already been discussed on the
typo3.dev newsgroup many times with a view to replacing TypoScript. I
also like Symfony's use of Syck[2], is a YAML parser maintained for PHP,
Python and Ruby. In fact both are packaged with Ruby on Rails, which
tells me it will continue to be actively developed.

On the other hand, Symfony is a very new framework. They're only at v0.6
and there are not really any high traffic web apps using it other than
Askeet[3]. Also with the approach of the new Zend PHP Framework[4] in
the works I'm not sure if Symfony is the basket to put all our eggs in
before Zend has come through with the goods. I'm sure it won't be long
before PHP as an official framework in Zend.

I for one give Symfony two thumbs up, but think it would be a good idea
to wait and see what Zend come up with.

Cheers,
David
