Hi,
The Partner Framework has a new name: "Party Information Framework". The
new name has been decided on during the kick-off of the project at T3DD
on August 11, 2006. You might think that we had a really great party in
Dietikon... :-) Maybe... But as some of you might already know, "Party"
is just the umbrella term for persons and organisations which was chosen
by the new OASIS standard.
At the kick-off, we also got the great news from Robert Lemke that we
might join forces for a commercial project that is in his pipeline.
Unfortunately, the deal has not yet been signed so he cannot communicate
more details, but he will update us as soon as he can. I guess by the
end of September, we should know for sure.
We also discussed the basic components with the key features we need and
set a rough priority. All of this can be found on the updated wiki page:
http://wiki.typo3.org/index.php/Party_Information_Framework
Please note that the old wiki-page about the partner framework will no
longer be maintained.
If the project of Robert becomes reality, Oliver Hader will might him
for the development of the core component (tx_party). This will be his
diploma thesis. Thanks Olly for this great support!
What are the next steps?
* Who wants to join for which components?
* Start with the concepts
* As soon as the core-API is somewhat stable, it will be communicated by
Robert (about 2-3 months after the start)
* At that point, all the other components can start building on top of
that API
Our main communication platform is the ECT list
(typo3.teams.extension-coordination at news.netfielders.de) and the
wiki. Once we get going, we should also plan some regular team meetings,
as already suggested by Olivier Dobberkau.
To all of you who could make it to Dietikon: Thanks for the great
discussion! And to everybody who couldn't make it: Thanks for joining in
now! :-)
Let's make the (tx_) party happen!
Greetings,
Dave.
