[TYPO3-core] How to check DBAL compatibilty?

Hi,

the starttime/endtime uses at the moment 2 SQL queries. In 
http://forge.typo3.org/issues/38838 I wrote a SQL query which uses one 
select.

How can I check the DBAL compatibility of this query? As it is faster 
then two queries (exspecialy if DB isN't on same host).
