Most active contributors are at the moment busy working on 6.0. There is 
not much time left to think about concepts. (This might explain the lack 
of response)

In general the road ahead is that TYPO3 CMS and Neos will converge 
regarding their features and functionality. To replace the page module 
with only FE editing is a bit too much in one step.

Drag'n'drop of existing content elements should be included in 6.0.

Adding content by drag'n'drop is a bit of a challenge if you look at the 
number of elements you can find in larger sites in the New Content 
Element wizard. Using only icons won't work IMO.

Maybe the UX/UI team can become more active and think about the next 
steps for the development of the Page module?
