I agree, but it seems to me that not all possible settings are found
there (i.e. not all settings are listed in DefaultConfiguration.php).

Yes, that was also suggested by Christopher in a private exchange of
mails and it seems like a good and useful idea.

You know what, we already have such a chapter [1]. But it's in Inside
TYPO3 which is dramatically out of date.
Maybe we can start by updating that particular chapter and add warnings
to all others.

Indeed, which is similar to what Ernesto suggested. I think what Ernesto
mentions could probably be achieved with text roles, but Martin is
better placed than me to answer that part.
