[TYPO3-core] Discussion: Remove default columns in favour for backend_layout

Hi,

I would like to start a discussion about the "Page" module.

I've started to implement the drag'n'drop from gridelements, with great
info from Joh

http://forge.typo3.org/issues/17198#change-124069

Working on this, I came to the following idea:

Why not remove the default columns setup, and replace it with a
backend_layout configuration?

So that per default backend_layout uid=1 would correspond to the
original "Left, Right, Normal, Border" grid setup?

Good things here is, that I/we don't need to implement drag'n'drop two
places (currently a condition seems to determine if it's a grid or not)
and would give the core only one way of rendering the backend page module.

Let's have a discussion, feature freeze is soon, and we are in the
middle of vacations etc. , including myself.

Let your voice be heard!

Regards,

Søren
