I was a bit worried since there was no further response to this thread. 
However, checking the bugtracker log, I noticed there was quite a lot of 
activity going on resolving this issue.

As an "impacted" user (runing typo3 on Windows/IIS), I would like to 
express my gratitude for your making sure typo3 works on this platform 
as well.
