True, that's why I want to see this fixed in 4.5 :-)

As was suggested in the minutes of a Skype meeting of the 4.5 team it 
would be best to have some kind of test setup with a few OS variations, 
the various supported graphics tools (IM4/5/6/GM, maybe subversions) and 
safe_mode on and off.

As far as I'm concerned any ideas to get such a test bed up and running 
(preferably this year) would be welcome. We could use it for refactoring 
or rewriting the graphics stuff too.
