Hi Steffen,

i did some additional cleaning in attached patch.

General +1 by reading and testing.

Some more comments that could also be solved later, as this is the API 
without usage atm.

* creating cache files should always be connected to clear cache 
function, in this case "clear configuration cache"
I think rebuildCache is the function to be called, but then it has to be 
public.

* there is no inclusion of the css yet? At least i didn't found any.

* there are a lot of settings need documented. This is also important to 
understand how it works. is there something already prepared?


I will try this with bennis patch at the WE to see it in action.
