"was forgotten" would have been the better choice of words, as it was of
course never in as the modules in mod/ got included "automagically".

Ok, when I use

t3lib_extMgm::addModule('user', 'ws', '',
t3lib_extMgm::extPath($_EXTKEY) . 'ws/');

as only line to add the module everything works fine, the module appears
at User>Tools and the workspace selector from the topbar is working as
well. So please add this line to your patch ;) then +1 by testing.
