It can be done only at 4.6 if it becomes deprecated in 4.4. It must 
stay for two full releases according to the policy.

Well, this was not in the mailing lists where a wide amount f people 
from community could contribute.

It looks to me that your group did not have any performance 
specialists, did it? :)

I do not know anything about your discussions there, so have nothing to 
start with. However I will carefully watch patches and say my word if 
they lower performance ;)
