I think it would be an idea to set the forced flag by default for newly
created domain records, as that way we would encourage not to produce
duplicate content.
But I think getting rid of the differentiation between forcing and not
forcing (which means: always forcing) really is no option for a straight
upgrade, because people having domain records lying around which didn't
do anything so far would be really surprised to see their subpages
suddenly be prepended by another domain.
I think the current solution really offers the best from both approaches
if we now just add the little change to make forcing the default.
Because then:
- in most cases forced or redirect domain records will be used
- but still, if someone wants it differently, he can still use
side-by-side domain records and have different pages be cache
