I had the same situation as Xavier and deleting typo3conf/temp_* worked 
for me. I deleted those before I read your answer here, so found the 
solution myself - but I don't think that others find it too. So your 
proposal to delete the temp-files through the update wizard (which I 
checked first) is a good idea.
