Hi Benni,
Thanks for your review! I want to describe you the reason why I have written
the patch. We have arranged three countries on our page which are sharing
almost the same content in german. Also we have several pages which can
slide the contents of some columns (e.g. fine print/Kleingedrucktes), but
specially the fine print content elements are different between the countries
(because different laws and the VAT) and I can only slide them if either my
patch is applied or an alternative page translation is added for any
subpage! This results in many redundant alternative page translation entries
that doesn't contain any content elements, but must be maintained. I can
give you some more examples on our page, where we have exactly the same
problems.
I know that the problem isn't such difficult if you have different languages
instead of different countries, because you need the alternative page
translation in most cases.
IMHO my patch adds a much more expected behaviour to the slide
functionality.
