of course I tried the tests!
You'll see that it all perfectly makes sense the way I do it.

please read my initial message, I think it's explained well why I do it 
this way.

A lot has changed in FLOW3's caching framework since I first backported 
it. Files were moved, renamed, code changed and so on. As I got that 
synched again I could of course have just committed the changes. 
However, I was pretts sure that some things would have been brocken, 
thus I chose to also backport the tests to make sure everythign still 
works before committing it.

So the current version of the caching framework I have in my working 
copy passes the tests. There are still some tests that I have to write 
for our custom DB and Globals cache backend, as soon as these are 
written and the backends pass the tests I'll commit all the changes with 
a FYI (permission to do so received by Olly).
